Alan G. Morohovech, affectionately known as “Big Al”, 61, of Taylor, entered eternal rest Friday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, the former Helen Lukachko Morohovech.
Born in Scranton, he was the only child born to the late Aleck Morohovech and the late Mary Cherewka Morohovech Hoover and step-father, Lynn Hoover and was a 1975 graduate of West Scranton High School. Alan furthered his education at Penn State University, receiving his bachelor’s degree in administration of justice. Alan was a warehouse manager at Affiliated Foods and co-owner of Musclemag International, Scranton. He was an avid weightlifter and held numerous power lifting records. He was also a big supporter of all things Penn State.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his in-laws, Paul and Helen Viercinski Lukachko, Taylor; his best friend Izzy, who gave him unconditional love and he called her “his lady puppy”; an aunt, Marion Viercinski and an uncle, Stanley Viercinski, and cousins, godchildren, and many good friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend Alan’s funeral, which will be Saturday beginning at 9:15 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St. Scranton, by the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. Friends may call Friday 4 to 7 pm.
