Dominick Venetz, 61, of Sweet Valley, formerly of Dalton, entered into eternal rest on Saturday at Wilkes Barre General Hospital.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Dominick and Ann Carter Gibbs and was a 1976 graduate of West Scranton High School. Dominick worked for Roadway as a mechanic prior to his accident. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. After his accident, he played wheelchair basketball and bowling. His favorite teams were Penn State and the New York Giants. His disability did not prevent or intimidate Nick from fully enjoying life. Dominick spent much of his time-serving as a mentor for his nieces, nephews and many youths, imparting his knowledge and wisdom on those who touched his life.
He is survived by three sons, Dominick and wife, Tracy; Paul and fiancee, Crystal Guenthner and Michael; two brothers, Albert Gibbs Jr. and wife, Sue, and Ronald Gibbs; five sisters, Sandy Mantanye and husband, Carl; Barbara Pechal and husband, Henry and Lisa Don Vito and husband, Joseph, Roseann Warpus and Mary Howell; and two grandchildren, Aiden and Sarah Venetz.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David.
Family and friends are invited to attend Dominick’s funeral, which will be on Thursday, at 10 A.M. in the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor, with a blessing service by the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Falls Township. Friends may call Wednesday from 4:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.
