Nancy Jurnack, 95, of Lancaster, NY, and formerly of Old Forge entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 7 at Hospice of Buffalo, Cheektowaga, NY. Her beloved husband, Michael, preceded her in death.
Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Neftody and Mary Gambal Matechak and was a 1943 graduate of Old Forge High School. Nancy was employed by AT&T, Buffalo, NY, where she worked until her retirement. She was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, Old Forge, and was always there to lend a helping hand. She was affectionately known as Grandma J.
She was the loving mother of Carol Hamilton and husband, Robert, Lancaster, NY and James Jurnack and wife, Judy, Lockport, NY; Also surviving is her cherished grandson, Michael; a sister-in-law, Mary Matechak, Florida, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Peter, Michael, William, Sylvester, Joseph and Philip Matechak and three sisters, Ann, Olga and Helen.
Family and friends are invited to attend Nancy’s funeral, which will be Thursday at 10:30 am in St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, 512 Summer St. Old Forge, by the Rev. Peter Henry. Interment, parish cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the church
