Andrew Janiga

August 31, 1958 ~ October 28, 2021 (age 63)

Andrew J. Janiga Jr., 63, of Duryea, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Oct. 28, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia Baranowski, and together they have been married for 39 years.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Andrew and Carmella Ferrara Janiga, who passed away on Oct. 21. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, class of 1976. Andy was the owner of Janiga Dental Lab, Duryea, where he worked side by side with his wife, Cindy and his daughter, Alicia. His work ethic and his loyalty to his customers was unparalleled. Andy and Cindy were passionate about metal detecting. One of their proudest moments was uncovering a collection of artifacts on Lewes Beach in Delaware. Their discovery led underwater archeologists to determine that the site was most likely the final resting place of the earliest known shipwreck in Delaware waters.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two daughters, Ashley and Alicia Janiga; a brother, John and wife, Stephanie; two sisters, Barbara Sworen and husband, Gerald; and Ann Morris and husband, Richard; nieces and nephews.
