Anne Dutko Hazelwood, 90, of Louisville, Kentucky, entered into eternal rest on Friday at the Jewish Hospital of Louisville, with her daughter at her side. Her beloved husband, William (Bill) Arnold Hazelwood, of Owensboro, Ky, preceded her in death on March 26, 1980.
Born in Thompson No. 2, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Slevich Dutko. Anne was a graduate of Dunmore high school. She enjoyed singing in the choir at St Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church and being involved in the American Carpatho-Russian Youth organization. She carried the love of the church with her throughout her life. She was employed by American Tobacco Company. Through this work, she moved to Owensboro, Kentucky where she met Bill and started a family. She retired from American Tobacco in 1962 in dedication to her family.
She was a devoted wife and mother and loved taking care of her family. She was well known for hosting midnight cookouts for dozens of teenagers.
Anne also enjoyed being active in the Women's International Bowling Congress through the mid1970s. After the passing of her husband and youngest daughter, Patrician Ann Hazelwood (February 19, 1995), she moved to Louisville, KY to be closer to her daughter, Yvonne. While in Louisville she became active in the Lowery LIFE music club. Music had always been a love of her life and through this organization she learned to play the organ and traveled to conventions in Chicago and cruised to St. Thomas. The music and the friendships she formed through LIFE made her spirit visibly leap in joy.
In the last year and a half of Anne's life, online services though St. George's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church made it possible for her to re-engage in participation of Divine Liturgy. This also brought her immense joy and comfort.
