Ceil Puhalla Goss, 91, of the Greenwood section of Moosic, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday afternoon at Dunmore Health Care, Dunmore. Her beloved husband, Joseph passed away October 3, 1979.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Yurkanin Puhalla and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. Ceil worked as a machine operator at the former Sandy “D” Fashions, Minooka and was the housekeeper for many years at the former St. Mary’s Czestochowa rectory. A devout Catholic, Ceil was a longtime member of the former St. Mary’s Czestochowa Church, Moosic, now consolidated into Divine Mercy Parish. At her church, she served as the president of the women’s guild and the after 50 club. Throughout the years, she was actively involved with the parish bazaar, annual quilt bingo and was an exceptionally talented quilter. Although her presence will be greatly missed, she leaves behind a lasting legacy of being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Surviving are two twin daughters, Marion (Paul) Raymer, Moosic and Sharon (Donald) Roche, Taylor; three grandchildren, Christine Roche-Shygelski, Tracy (Randy Spencer) Roche and Joseph Carl (Dr. Maggie Miller and children Sarah and Elaina) Raymer; two great grandchildren, Carl and Lila Shygelski ; a brother, Albert Puhalla, Florida and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Puhalla, Scranton; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by; Five brothers, Thomas, John, Joseph, Andrew and Cyril and three sisters, Helen, Ann and Mary.
Family and friends are invited to attend Ceil’s viewing, which will be held on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am in the Semian Funeral Home LLC, 704 Union St. Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Divine Mercy 312 Davis St. Scranton by the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli. Interment will be private in All Saints Slovak Catholic Cemetery, Hollisterville.
