Obituary

Evelyn Theresa "Tootsie" Pepsin Molenda, from the Greenwood section of Scranton, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, December 9. Her beloved husband, John T. Molenda passed away June 7, 2016. John and Evelyn were married on August 12, 1961, and together they celebrated 55 years of marriage and now they are united once more to live happily ever after.

Born on October 11, 1934, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Anna Huda Pepsin. Evelyn was a graduate of Taylor High School, class of 1952. Her life was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish. Each year, she faithfully attended the St. Ann's Novena. Besides her love of family, Evelyn and John loved traveling and one of their special places was Walt Disney World.

Evelyn's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Ken Sebastianelli, Telespond, Oakwood Terrace, and the entire staff of Mountainview Care Center. They will be forever grateful to their angel, Michele McDermott, who was there for them each and every day to care for Evelyn.
Surviving are two daughters, Maureen Luther and husband, Jason, who was always at her side and Janice Philbin; a son, John and wife, Carla; three grandchildren, Lindsey Philbin and fiancé, Phillip Terpak, Matthew and Alexandra Philbin; a sister, Ann Stevens and husband, Joseph and a brother, Francis Pepsin; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Dipipi and a brother, Joseph Pepsin.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St. Scranton, by the Rev. Francis L. Pasuelli, pastor. Evelyn was laid to rest next to her husband in St. Mary's Czestochowa Cemetery, Moosic.
