Frances Agnes Wilson, 91, of Ottumwa, IA, fell asleep in the Lord on June 4, 2020 at Timber Ridge Assisted Living. She was born January 26, 1929 in Detroit, MI to Dimitri “James” and Anna Kozub Ziots. Frances married James Wilson on April 26, 1947 in Detroit, MI and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2005.
A teacher of math and science, she returned to school after raising her children and earned a B.A. from the University of Minnesota and a Masters In Education from the University of Delaware. She taught middle school math and science for over 25 years. After she retired, she taught adult extension classes in computers at a local community college.
Frances was a founding member of the Orthodox Church of the Holy Cross in Medford, NJ before moving to Maryland in 1976. While living in Maryland, Frances attended St. Michael’s Orthodox Church in Wilmington, DE and at one time served as church treasurer. Frances was most recently a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Christian Church in Pella, IA. Her love was computers and her miniature Schnauzer dogs. She enjoyed golfing, cooking, knitting, and reading. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. Her children will always remember the support that she gave them in times of happiness, trouble and sorrow.
Surviving are her children, Nancy Wilson of Summerville, SC and West Barnstable, MA, Dr. John (Pamela) Wilson of Ottumwa, IA, Thomas (Barbara) Wilson of Hazelton, PA and Pleasanton, CA, and Mark (Kelly) Wilson of Summerville, SC; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Roseanna (Richard) Vanderworp of East China, MI and Shirley Bolling of New Haven, MI; a brother-in-law, Philip Goushaw of Royal Oak, MI.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Theodora Westmoreland, Roberta Goushaw and Dolores Andersen.
Her body has been taken from Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa to Semian Funeral Home in Taylor, PA. Funeral services and interment will be held privately at the Monastery of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk, 175 St. Tikhons Road, Waymart, by the Very Rev. James Jadick. Frances will then be laid to rest next to her husband James at St. Tikhon’s Monastery Cemetery.
