Gertrude Leyman Srebro, 92, of the Greenwood section of Moosic, entered into eternal rest on Monday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Her beloved husband of 36 years, Edward J., passed away Feb. 12, 1989.
Born and raised in the Greenwood section of Moosic, she was the daughter of the late John and Genevieve Kahnowski Leyman and was a graduate of Moosic High School, class of 1947. Throughout her life, Gert was employed by W.L. Maxson, Old Forge, Capitol Records and retired from McKinney Corporation, where she worked for 24 years. A devout Catholic, Gert was a parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish and prior to the consolation she was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary's Czestochowa Church, Moosic. She had been a devoted caregiver to her late mother for many years. Gert will be remembered as a kind and gentle lady who loved her family, her friends, her pets, her church and traveling. She made a lasting impression on everyone she met with her kind heart and sweet smile.
The Srebro family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care and support given to them and their mother the past few weeks.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda McCarthy and husband, Kurt Sr., Garnet Valley; a son, Edward G. and wife, Patty, Clarks Summit; six grandchildren, Kayla Bennett and husband, Dalton; Corey and Colin Robinson, Kurt Jr., Nolan and Connor McCarthy; nieces and nephews.
A grandson, Cole Srebro; four brothers, Edmund, Joseph, Henry and Alfons; and a sister, Cecelia Brocavich, preceded her in death.
Family and friends are invited to attend Gert's Mass of Christian Burial, which will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St., Scranton, by the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli pastor. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Czestochowa Cemetery, Moosic.
