Helen C. Kobeski Henning, 81, of the Minooka section of Scranton, entered into eternal rest on Sunday at home. Her beloved husband, Thomas G., died January 6, 2005.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Keen Kobeski and was a graduate of Moosic High School Class of 1957. Prior to raising her family, she was employed by Trane Company. She was a lifelong parishioner of the former St. Mary's Czestochowa Church, Moosic.
A woman of many enjoyments, Helen was a runner-up in the 1958 Scranton Press Photographer Contest. She also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, answering the questions on her favorite TV show “Jeopardy”, playing tennis and watching her two favorite sports teams, The New York Yankees and San Francisco 49ers. She also had quite the green thumb and loved gardening. She loved listening to Frank Sinatra and would enjoy watching the sunset in the summer months listening to “ol blue eyes.”
Above all, her family was the most important part of her day. Her presence will be deeply missed, but she will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother and sister.
Surviving are a daughter, Tricia B. and a son Todd G., both of Scranton; a sister, Leona Suchnicki, Scranton, a sister-in-law, Jayne Sessa, Galloway, NJ and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracee Ann Henning, brothers Joseph and Raymond Kobeski, sisters Betty Kobeski, Dorothy Albrecht, and Marie Martz.
A Memorial Mass in honor of Helen will be announced at a later date at Divine Mercy Parish, followed by interment in St. Mary's Czestochowa Cemetery, Moosic.
