Irene Tomaszewski, of Swoyersville, was called by God to go to her heavenly home on March 6, 2021.
Born in Taylor on April 1, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Markovich Yevich. Irene was a graduate of Taylor High School and McCann School of Business, having worked in the garment industry and then at Pagnotti Enterprises as an administrative assistant until her retirement.
Irene nurtured her loving family, raised her children with quiet strength, encouraged her grandsons' interests and welcomed everyone into her home. She left us beautiful memories and her love will always be our guide.
She was a member of the Pittston Active Adult Center, West Pittston Little League Ladies Auxiliary and volunteer for the Girl Scouts. Irene was devoted to her faith and cherished the opportunity to participate in Moleben service on Wednesday evenings.
Surviving are her children, Edward (Karen); Karen (Alan) and David (Donna); six grandsons, Edward (Tracie), Patrick (Jenny), Kevin, David, Brian and Nicholas; a brother, William (Charlotte); and sister, Emily (Dan); along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband of 52 years, Edward, she was preceded in death by brothers, John and Michael; and sisters, Anna, Helen Ann, Margaret and Mary.
A private Christian burial service will be held at the Semian Funeral Home LLC in Taylor with Father Mark Leasure from St. George's Orthodox Church serving as celebrant. Interment will be at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Dupont.
