Jerome P. Schofield, 89, of Moosic, passed away Saturday at Mountain View Care Center, His beloved wife, of 65 years was the former Irene M. Yackabovicz Schofield, passed away April 9, 2020.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Patrick and Anna Casey Schofield and was a graduate of Scranton Tech High School. A United States Army veteran, Jerome honorably served his country for five years during the Korean War, during his deployment he was stationed in in Germany and Panama. Upon his honorable discharge, he attained the rank of Sergeant. Throughout the years, Jerome worked for the Federal Aviation Administration, protected the residences of Moosic Borough, where was a police officer and served as deputy game warden for Lackawanna County. A devout Catholic, Jerome was a parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish and he held membership with the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. The simple pleasures in life, like reminiscing about his time in Panama and on the police force bought Jerome much joy and happiness. These found memories will forever remain in the heart and mind of his devoted son, Joe.

Surviving is a devoted son, Joseph J., Moosic; a daughter, Carolyn Orzel and husband, Mark, Binghamton, NY; two grandchildren, Andrew Orzel and wife, Natasha and Sara Orzel; a sister, Ann Dickinson, Scranton; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Thomas.
Family and friends are invited to attend Jerome's Mass of Christian Burial which will be on Saturday at 10 am in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St. Scranton by the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 9 am to 10 am at the church.
