Joan H. Solombrino Dreater, 87, of West Scranton, entered eternal rest on Monday at Allied Hospice Center. Her beloved husband was the late William Dreater, who passed away on July 25, 1999. Together, Joan and Bill shared 44 beautiful years of marriage.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Helen Minich Solombrino and was a graduate of South Scranton Catholic High School. Joan retired from Textiles, Inc, where she worked for many years. She was a devout Catholic and a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Church, Scranton. For many years, Joan was the secretary for the Keyser Valley Senior Citizens and was active with the Eastern Star, Martha Washington Chapter, Taylor. Joan had many enjoyments in life, cooking and baking for her family and was an excellent seamstress. She also loved to travel, having visited Hawaii and Florida.
Surviving are two daughters; Denise Teitsworth and husband, Jan, West Chester and Diane Ball and husband, Jerry, Friday Harbor, Washington; three grandchildren, Tanya Nurkiewicz, Eric Teitsworth and wife, Taylor and Amy Teitsworth and fiancé', Dan Crisona; a brother, Ron Solombrino and wife, Ann Marie, Moosic; a brother-in-law Stephen Dreater and wife, Ann Marie, Taylor; many nieces and nephews, good friends and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Church/St. Paul of the Cross, in honor of Joan.
Family and friends are invited to attend Joan's Mass of Christian Burial, which will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church at St. Paul of the Cross Parish, 1217 Prospect Ave., Scranton, PA 18505. Interment, will follow in Saint Peter and Saint Paul Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Scranton.
