Obituary

John J. Malinoski Sr. of Scranton entered into eternal life Jan. 7, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his devoted loving wife and caregiver, Ruth M. (Kashetta) Malinoski. Together Jack and Ruth celebrated 63½ beautiful years of marriage.

Born on June 24, 1932, he was the son of the late Joseph & Anna Matylewicz Malinoski. Jack was educated in the Polish National Catholic and Scranton schools and was of the Polish National Catholic faith. Throughout his life, he worked as a roofer, lineman, insurance agent and operated several coffee shops. In 1969 he formed Commonwealth Roofing Co. Inc., working alongside the men and later supervising the daily operations for 50 years. He had a passion for cooking and enjoyed the cooking and talk shows. Visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchild was very special and meaningful to him. He was generous likeable and had a priceless sense of humor right up to the end.

In addition to his wife, he is survived two sons, John J. and wife, Francene; and Michael D. and wife, Rosemarie; grandchildren, Michael and wife, Ashley; Robert and Abbey; and great-granddaughter, Alexandra Malinoski; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Regina Nawrocki and husband, Thaddeus (Coco), of New York; and Theresa Shorten and husband, Robert, of Virginia.

The Malinoski family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Allied Hospice for their compassionate care they provided to John.
