John Segilia, 59, a lifelong resident of the Greenwood Section of Moosic, entered eternal peace on Wednesday morning at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Marie Komar and they were blessed with 28 years of marriage.
Born November 16, 1962 in Taylor he was the son of Loretta DeBlasi Segilia, of Moosic and the late Mayor John Segilia. John was a graduate of Riverside High School Class of 1981. John has been a longtime equipment operator for PENDOT. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and served as Head Usher and the Greenwood Hose Company of which he was a past President.
John loved Moosic Borough and his Greenwood neighborhood, serving on Moosic Council for numerous years. John will be remembered for his beautiful soul, delightful smile, and sparkling eyes. John was an extraordinarily giving person who cared more about others than himself. He was full of love, had a witty personality, was devoted to his family, community and friends, and never would turn down anyone in need. He saw the goodness in everyone.
In addition to his wife and mother, surviving are his two devoted sons John, Moosic and Fiancé' Nicole Roberts, Old Forge and Jeffrey, of Moosic. His beloved siblings, Joanne Segilia Jackowicz and husband, John; Marie Fauver and husband, Bryan; and James Segilia, all of Moosic. His mother-in-law Theresa Komar, Olyphant, Aunts, numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Colleen Walsh Segilia.
Family and friends are invited to attend John's funeral on Monday, March 14th, at 10:45 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St. celebrated by Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Pastor. Burial will immediately follow in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery. Family and friends may call Sunday, March 13th, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
