Justin Michael Petrunich, 22, of Taylor, loving and beloved son, brother and grandson, passed into eternal rest surrounded by family on Sunday, Jan. 17, the same day that his beloved grandmother died one year ago.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Ron Petrunich Jr. and companion, Tami Vullo, Taylor, and Dana A. Waering Petrunich, Clarks Summit, and companion, Charlie Galat. Justin was a graduate of Lakeland High School class of 2017 and was furthering his education at Lackawanna College. He was known as a caring, kind, fun loving and easy-going person with a heart of gold, who touched the lives of countless friends and family. Justin always made sure to tell and show his loved ones how much he loved them. Justin so loved his furry friends, Norman, Ollie, Luna, Rudy, Phoebe, Nono and Jillsea. An avid outdoorsman, Justin enjoyed hiking, skateboarding, golfing and fishing. He also had a great passion for music and graphic arts. He was a parishioner of St. George’s Orthodox Church, Taylor.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Bryce Petrunich and his girlfriend, Kaycie Gavin; paternal grandfather, Ronald Petrunich Sr., Taylor; maternal grandparents, James and Carol Waering, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; an uncle, Rob Petrunich, Taylor; his girlfriend, Alyssa Newell and her mother, Jennifer Josefowicz, who were at his side until the end; great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Anne Badner Petrunich; and an uncle, Thomas Waering.
Family and friends are invited to attend Justin’s viewing which will be on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Semian Funeral Home LLC, 704 Union St., Taylor. A Panikhida service will be held at 3:30 p.m. by the Very Rev. Mark Leasure.
