Lorraine Balisen Kacaba, 81, of Taylor and formerly of S. Abington Twp., passed away peacefully on Thursday at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend Joseph J. They shared and built a wonderful life together.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Susan Masich Balisen and was a 1958 graduate of Scranton Tech High School. Strongly rooted in her faith, Lorraine was a longtime member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, Scranton, where she held membership with the church's Altar Society, serving as past secretary. She was also a member of the church choir and the ACRY. Throughout her career, Lorraine was the customer service manager for Harper Collins, Dunmore, met with outside clients and retired from Semian Funeral Home, Taylor, where she was an executive secretary. The world may seem dim without her here, but Heaven is a much brighter place having her there, where she is reunited with all her loved ones who were patiently awaiting her arrival.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted dog, Zoey, who gave her unconditional love; two sisters, Carol Sakulich, Clarks Summit and Sonia (Ted) Goosley, Binghamton, NY; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Orzolek and an infant brother, Michael Robert Balisen.
The funeral will be private for immediate family, followed by interment in the parish cemetery.
