Lorraine M. Scoda Branas Shrive, RN, 82, of Old Forge entered into eternal rest on Saturday surrounded by her family at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Her beloved husband of 46 years was the late Clinton E. Shrive, who passed away April 21, 2017.
Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late William and Edna Sipko Scoda and was a graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1955. Lorraine received her registered nursing degree from the Scranton State General Hospital School of Nursing. Throughout her career, she worked for the former Taylor Hospital, Scranton State General Hospital and retired from Clarks Summit State Hospital. A devout Catholic, Lorraine was a parishioner of St. Ann’s Basilica. In the summer months, she looked forward to camping with her sister, Flo. Lorraine's family was the center of her life, cherishing each moment with them and she was a devoted nurse and caregiver.
Surviving are her four children, Linda J. Branas and Frank Branas, both of Monore Township; Laura Wesolowski and husband, Henry, S. Abington Township and Christopher Shrive, Old Forge; five grandchildren, Gretchen Wesolowski and significant other, Allen Krotzer, Heather Wesolowski, Gabrielle, Madison and Carson Shrive; two great grandchildren, Eli Craig and Colton Shrive; a sister, Florence Rieder, Taylor; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 10 to 11 am at the Semian Funeral Home, LLC, 704 Union St. Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in St. Ann’s Basilica 1250 St. Ann’s St. Scranton, Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming, Pa
