Marie A. Nesko, 90, of Clarks Summit, formerly of Taylor, entered into eternal rest Saturday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, George "Duke" Nesko, passed away Nov. 24, 1999.
Born and educated in Dunmore, Marie was one of three children, born to the late Steve and Theresa Ferrone Santioemma. Throughout her life, Marie worked in the garment industry, working for DIC Manufacturing, Glasco Apparel and Bon Craft. After her husband, George, died, Marie volunteered for Taylor Head Start. Marie was a parishioner of St. Ann's Basilica. In the winter months, she loved when it snowed, each inch had to be cleared and, in the summer, it was gardening. She had an infectious smile and loved to chat with the neighbors.
Surviving are a daughter, Debbie Nesko, Clarks Summit; a son, Michael and companion, Eleanor McDonald; two granddaughters, Kristine Nesko and Myla Paczewski.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and John Santioemma.
The Nesko family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Barbara Golob, who was Marie's caregiver, Joyce Weiss, Gail Stage, the entire staff of Sacred Heart Hospice and Dr. Sheelas Prahalad for their care and compassion shown to their mother during her illness.
Family and friends are invited to attend Marie's Mass of Christian Burial, which will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Basilica., 1251 St. Ann's St., Scranton. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
