Nicholas Gula Jr, of Raleigh, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 27 at Rex Hospital, Raleigh, North Carolina. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Lorraine Burich.
Born in Taylor, son of the late Nicholas Sr. and Anna Holgash Gula. In 1951, he graduated from Taylor High School. Nick faithfully served our county with the United States Army during the Korean War and was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Ribbon and the United Nations Service Medal. Throughout his professional career, Nick was an electrical engineer with General Electric, Johnson City, New York. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Georges' Orthodox Church, Taylor and devote parishioner of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Raleigh, North Carolina. His family was the center of his life, especially his daughter Cathyann, who was the apple of his eye.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister-in-law, Rosemarie Keslosky, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathyann Gula, who died July 11; two brothers, Joseph and George Gula and three sisters, Anna Gula. Mary LaBar and Margaret Mroczka.
A private Divine Liturgy will be held at St. Georges' orthodox Church, by the Very Rev. Mark Leasure, followed by interment in the parish cemetery.
