Ronald M. Petrunich Sr., 77, of Taylor, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday evening at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa. His beloved wife, Mary Anne Badner Petrunich, entered eternal rest, on January17, 2020 and together, they celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Born in Taylor, he was one of two sons, born to the late George and Anna Cherewka Petrunich and was a graduate of Taylor-Moosic High School Class of 1961. After graduating from high school, Ron worked for Anthracite Bridge Company, Scranton as a draftsman and retired from Contemporary Homes/ Sun Building Construction, where he was in quality control for over 20 years. He was a lifelong and faithful parishioner of St. George’s Orthodox Church, serving as treasurer for many years. Ron was also a member of St. George’s social club and the Taylor Senior Citizens. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Cleveland Browns and the Philadelphia Phillies. The past few years, Ron enjoyed following and cheering for the Riverside Boys Basketball team, which his son, Ron is an assistant coach. Ron and his late wife, Mary Anne looked forward to their trips to Wildwood, NJ, taking care of their grandsons and fishing.
Surviving are his beloved family, sons, Ron Jr. and companion, Tami Vullo and Rob, all of Taylor; grandson, Bryce and his girlfriend, Kaycie Gavin; a daughter-in-law, Dana Petrunich and companion, Charlie Galat; a brother, George, Binghamton, NY; nieces, nephews, cousins, many dear friends and his dear canine companion, Jillsea.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Justin Petrunich, on January 17, 2021.
Family and friends are invited to attend Ron’s funeral which will be on Monday at 10 am in St. George’s Orthodox Church, 743 S. Keyser Ave. Taylor, by the Very Rev. Mark Leasure, pastor. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.
