Ronald Calvin Tryon

March 19, 1952 ~ January 28, 2022 (age 69)

Obituary

Ronald Calvin Tryon, 69, entered eternal rest on Friday, January 28, at Geisinger CMC. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Shannon E. Moore. Shannon and Ron have celebrated 12 years of marriage.

Born in Sayre, he was the son of the late Jack and Mildred Shaffer Tyron. Ron attended college to become a teacher and was fond of saying that teaching is part knowledge and part art. He was a skilled machinist and CAD operator.

Throughout his life, Ron faced many obstacles: a stroke which cut short his education, and the disease of addiction. He kept his positive outlook on life and never gave up. In SCI-Dallas- he regained his faith and converted to Catholicism, especially through the evangelization of the Neocatechumenal Way and a deep devotion to Our Lady. He has been grateful for his recovery and has been in remission for 11 years.
He is a parishioner of St. Peter's Cathedral. He loved music, biking, walking, exploring new places, and taking his cherished dog, Cooper, for long walks.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Ronnie and his wife, Stephanie and Tom and his wife, Clara; a daughter, Julie Tippetts and husband, Mike; an uncle, Guy Kinney and wife, Barbara; an aunt, Ann T. Shaffer; and a cousin, Victor Viall . He loved his many grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Ken Shaffer, his aunt, Betty Cabezut, his cousin, Jeffrey Dusek, and his dear brother, Paul.

Family and friends are invited to attend Ron's memorial gathering on Thursday, February 10, from 1 to 2 pm at St. Peter's Cathedral, 315 Wyoming Ave. Scranton, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2.

Memorial contributions may be made to Luzerne County SPCA 524 E. Main St. Wilkes-Barre, 18702 or to the Salvation Army 500 S. Washington St. Scranton, 18505.
