Ruth Cardascia Masewitz, of Pittston, passed away Thursday evening at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes Barre. Her beloved husband Stanley, of 53 years passed away February 13, 2011.
Born in Pittston, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Margaret Toro Cardascia and was a 1950 graduate of Pittston High School. Early in life, Ruth worked in the garment industry. A dedicated homemaker most of her life, Ruth, lovingly tended to the daily needs of her family, whom she loved dearly. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church of Pittston. Ruth had a special bond with her sister, Amelia and they spoke several times daily.
Surviving are two sons, Steven, Pittston and Ronald and fiancé Kristen Petrucci, Moosic; three grandchildren Kali, Ronnie and Zachary; two sisters, Amelia Falcone, Pittston and Sylvia Testen and husband, Robert, Mentor, Ohio; nieces and nephews.
A son, Kenneth, preceded her in death.
Family and friends are invited to attend Ruth’s funeral service Monday at 11:00 am at the Second Presbyterian Church of Pittston, 143 Parsonage St. Pittston. Her Pastor, Rev. Roger Griffith, will officiate. Interment will follow in Pittston Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.
